The view from the Takaka Hill is made transcendent by Colin McCahon's great painting Takaka Night and Day. I love the painting. Ridges recede on ridge-lines but I break his hard lines with a rising winter misty cloudscape. Beyond in the receeding ridges is Kahurangi National Park - our most treasured National Park for its unrivalled biodiversity.
