Ferns in Rata Forest, Enderby Island. Trees in the subantarctic have a short, cold, windy growing season and, like those near the bushline in alpine areas, create gnarly, stunted, often interlocking growth patterns. I was drawn to the receding complex lines here and the circle of ferns - all in a wonderful subdued green.
Taken on Asahi Pentax 6/7. 45mm lens. 100 ASA. Ektachrome film. Aperture F22.
