Caroline Face
$900.00
In this image I wanted the whole huge face of snow and ice to rush toward the viewer; so I filled the frame with just the face from a straight angle, giving no escape. The very early morning light was an exquisitely soft yellow that gave a surreal sense of almost touchable surfaces in what is actually a very cold and violent place. The Caroline Face is one of the world's tallest unremitting ice faces, stretching up 2500m, and only first climbed in 1970.
Taken on Asahi Pentax 6/7. 105mm lens. 100 ASA Ektachrome film. Speed 250 sec.
