Blood Moon
$145.00
About 12 years ago I learnt that our New Zealand skies would experience a blood moon phenomena (which as far as I can understand is the equivalent of seeing 24 hours of the Earth's sunsets in 15 minutes) and I photographed it in Queenstown as a sequence of seven shots from white to red, titled Eclipse of the Moon. This time around (Autumn 2015) I decided to take just one shot with the smallest of telephoto lenses to give the impression of this small blood red moon floating in the dark cold infinite space. This is my equivalent of the NASA blue planet shot of the earth from the 1960s.
Taken on Nikon 800E. 105mm telephoto lens. Aperture F2.8. ASA 2500.
